This week I am loving "within the rose" by Matthew and the Atlas

I have just realised that for a jewelry artist and metalsmith I have an extraordinary fascination with paper! Kudos to Neil Coxhill who created this fantastic animation. I am also so in love with Matthew Hegarty's voice! Strange that I move over five thousand miles from the UK to the US only to discover Matthew and the Atlas who are based in London!  All of this I know has nothing to do whatsoever with jewelry!  I am working on some fun stuff at the moment and will show you as soon as I can what I have been up to - I am revisiting an idea I had several years ago and have my fingers crossed - not whilst working! - that it is something special.

Ooh la la - I'm in Orange Coast Magazine!

A stylist saw one of my rings last month in Paula Hanson's boutique and asked if she could use it in a photo shoot for Orange Coast magazine.  It was very exciting to stand in line at the grocery store today and flick through the magazine and see a piece of my jewelry.   Hmmm - I could get used to this!

Chalk, chalk and more chalk...

I am loving Dana Tanamachi.  I saw her work on the cover of The Oprah Magazine but it wasn't until I read this article in the Wall Street Journal (hmmm, that makes me sound intelligent!) that I got to know a little more about her and her fantastic art.  Watching her work on this time lapse video is truly fascinating. I chose a short one but if you check out her website there are several more videos to watch.

I am going to paint a large chalkboard onto my kitchen wall and buy the cheap chalk that Dana recommends. I have also been inspired by this chalk board wall.  Dolores Petunia was a Featured Seller on Etsy.

I would like a credenza with the wall painted with chalkboard paint above it.  I would also like to use magnetic paint underneath the chalkboard paint as I think that would be fun to stick magnets on it.  Maybe I could make magnetic numbers which I can move around.  Another thing to add to the very long to do list!

Look what arrived today...

I purchased this lovely piece of Fiber Art made by the very talented Karen Drayne.  You can see more of her beautiful work here at her Etsy store.

I have always wanted to have a go at free motion embroidery - I think that it is probably very addictive.

I would also love to have this on my wall.  Wow!  I found this here on Ida Cedarlof's blog.  I remember doing something similar with nails, a piece of wood and some very shiny thread at school a very long time ago.  It looked nothing like this!

Mine would have to say "Too many crafts, not enough time!" What would yours say?
